The CDC defines suicide as when people direct violence at themselves with the intent to end their lives, and they die as a result of their actions. Approximately 75 Oregon youths die by suicide each year, making it the second leading cause of death among those aged 10-24 years. Over 750 suicide attempts are reported each year.
